Hi all.
I've just started playing again after a decade-long hiatus fueled by family issues. With my cabs long gone, I was close to pulling the trigger on a new Avatar B210N when I landed a chance at a gigged-once, like-new Golight Jr. for ridiculously little money, so I went for it. I am very happy with the cab (it surprisingly was like-new!) but I'd like to push a little more air in the near future.
I'm running an old Peavey Probass 1000 / 400W power amp combo that will get replaced at some point but for now it works and has proven a trusty companion on the hundreds of gigs it worked throughout the 90's. I play a few different basses, all fretted 4-string. For now this is just for jamming with friends, gigging is a possibility in the future.
Another Golight Jr. makes sense but not for my wallet which is pretty slim. The Avatar B210 makes more sense to my wallet but I am unsure how the 2 cabs would get along together. And, from what I'm reading on TB, a 1x15 is definitely a no-no? Back in the day I ran one or two 4x10's or a bi-amped 1x18 + 2x10. I will not be bi-amping this rig.
So, I am looking for something 8 ohm in the $400 or less range that might play nice with the Golight. Suggestions?
Many thanks for your thoughts and expertise.
