Recommendation for solid state power amp <$300

It seems qsc and crown are within reach. Any other recommendations? Preferably w/ 1/4" outputs, & 8 ohm.

The Peavey does run at 8 ohms, it also runs at 4 and 2 ohms, each channel does, so if you ever need to add more cabs you can.

A nice old used GK 800RB. they're for sale in the classifieds for around $300. And they can run an 8 ohm load.

I like that the Peavey stuff is lightweight. Any word on these low-cost amps on evilbay--Pyle etc?

I'm running a minimal pedal board with tube pre, to power amp (one of my channels is not working; that's why I'm looking) to eden & hartke 410's. I can survive on one cab but it would be nice to put both to use. Unless I sell one.

I'm not into DSP, so a used QSC or Carvin HD or DCM looks good to me.
The Carvin are reasonably priced new, and appear to be sturdy performers and well made.

I picked up an IPR here in the classified for a decent price. Gc should stock them. Just make sure its a sealed box.

Sorry to thread jack but what do you mean by this, do the Peaveys not like ported cabs or something?

No, as in the amp is new in a sealed box. Gc is full of clowns that will sell you a refurb as new.

Not true of all GCs.
I was shopping for an IPR 1600 back when they were hard to find.
A local GC sold me one from the demo rack as "used". I watched as the salesman pulled it...no power or speaker cables were attached.

I paid "used" price for an "open box" amp that had never been turned on.

And thats fine. Its when they have a returned unit and try to sell it to you as new...

I bought a Hartke LH500 used off the classified for 250 recently. It is a "hybrid" tube/solid state amp that can run at 8/4 ohms. I love this thing. It sounds very nice and is very simple to operate.

P.S. I know you said solid state, but I am not clear as to why you want specifically that. This amp is for the most part solid state, but it sounds so good for what I do. Is a tad on the heavy side though.

Mostly economic reasons but ss power & tube pre seems novel anyway.
