recommendations wanted for replacement 8ohm 15" speaker

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys just curious if anyone out their has bought any eminence, peavey, or other replacement 15" woofers. I just picked up replacement eminence CA2010 for my 8ohm 4x10 cab. They are the aluminum coned hartke replacements with the super light mags on them.

Well they don't make this speaker in a 15" but they do have some other options.

Just curious if anyone has anything the like for rock/metal replacement. Looking for 1 15" 300w(ish) 8ohm replacement.

Did you pick up one CA2010 and put it with 3 other hartke speakers in the same cab or what? Not the best idea.

The basslite series is a good and often overlooked line of speakers, especially in the in 10 and 12" versions, 15's...meh, the legends trumps it, as do the kappalite versions.

No I bought 4 replacements, I must have been unclear about how many I bought. Anyway the 15 I have is still a good speaker but I am looking for something that doesn't sound muddy and a little more power handling, but not sure if anyone has any good ideas, I've looked through tons of potential replacements.

By box I'm assuming you mean cab, and if so i currently have older Hartke Transient Attack cabs. I have already replaced the 4x10 cab speakers as 3 of them where cracked/blown/toast. The 15 cab is ported on the bottom underneath the speaker. The speaker is a 180w hartke 15".

No problems with it but since the upgrade of the other cab from 240w to 600w I'm a little concerned for the 15. As I have a new Genz Streamliner 600 on the way. It makes the pair cabs 4ohms and if my thinking is correct it will be pushing 300w to the 4x10 and 300w to the 15 that can only handle 180w. That's why I'm looking for recommendations.

Wattage ratings are meaningless. What matters is driver displacement. For a 1x15 to keep up with a 4x10 you need for the 1x15 and 4x10 to have the same impedance and for the fifteen to have no less than the same displacement (T/S spec Vd) as the four tens combined, if not more. And of course the driver must be compatible with the enclosure, confirmed by software modeling the driver/cab combination.

Unless you compared their specs to those for the Hartke drivers there's no way of knowing that.
