Recording a GK 1001RB

I need to record some bass parts over a drum track this week. Does anyone know if it is possible to set my amp up at home with no speakers connected and just record from the XLR output on the front of the amp?

The manual says it's ok to play it without speakers attached, does anyone have any experience recording this way? Or know if it even works?

Yes, it's perfectly fine.

You can also select the DI as pre tone control or post tone controls (still pre boost and master "Woofer/Tweeter").
No cab needed.
