Hey Peter, same to you! I'm holding up reasonably well, thanks. Absolutely slammed with work this month and next, which I can't be happier about, except for the drives Have a great Christmas your own self!

I'll be in Frankfurt in March I believe for the trade show.
But if you're making Jimmy's Bass thing that would be GREAT!

Will you have time afterwards to get together maybe?
I'll be looking forward to that Kirk! MEATBALLS

Absolutely useless REDDI Mod.

So the purple LED reached the end of life......

Is it wrong to replace it with a red LED?

Take Care,
Timbros.

Great thread. Thanks to Peter and all of you for your input. After several weeks of research, I decided to order one. Should be here on Monday.

I previously shared an experience I had last year when my band was setting up to record a video, and I had plugged in my REDDI before sound check. I was running scales when the Producer ran out of the sound booth asking what type of DI is was using, because the engineer couldn't believe the tone he was hearing. The engineer worked for NFL films as well as the sound crew. Well last night, we filmed a new video. When I walked into the studio, the same engineer approached me and asked "Do you have that Big Red Box with you? I unzipped my carrying case, and showed it to him, and a big grin appeared on his face. As he was walking away, talking to a member of his crew, he said 'wait until you hear this guy, the tone he gets from that DI is awesome." Several times through out the evening he would come in and give me two thumbs up. At the conclusion of the shoot, he said, man that is a killer box, and this time he wrote down the name of it, saying that he was going to order one. He said that he has Avalons in their studio, but it doesn't sound like the REDDI. My keyboard player told me after the shoot that he too wanted one. He said, I love that box, you should use it every gig.

Ya, take some killer playing and put it through that box and it really comes to life. It's totally noticeable. Hopefully garak will have a couple stories like yours soon

So I spoke with him and he seemed like he was from out of town with a Brit accent.
He told me who he was...........Wix........so I say okay, what can I do for you?
He wanted to come by and take a look at some gear for a studio he was building back home in the UK.
Sure, come on by cause your just down the road and I'll show you what we have.

About a 1/2 hour later he shows up with his friend DJ and we start talking about what he needs. During that talk I find out that he is the Keyboard player for Paul McCartney.
NOW there is this dream I have of getting a REDDI to McCartney and this was the perfect time to do that.

One thing lead to another and I asked Wix what were the chances of doing this.

Long and short guess who will be getting a REDDI soon

Can't wait to see how this all plays out I won't know anything until after Feb 2013 BUT it was an experience I will never forget and a dream that MIGHT come true!

Just had to tell someone!

Congratulations Peter! That is awesome!
I hope you gave him an autographed REDDI so McCartney can say: "NOW there is this dream I have of getting an autographed REDDI from Montessi".
Well done!

+1000 I like your story...I know what you mean too.... Its a common occurrence when an engineer or producer hears the REDDI... It is 3D sounding....
The tone of the REDDI is so different to others in a good way.. Almost as dramatic as the first time that I experienced and heard total phase shifting / flanging on a record back in the 70s. as on the ELO song "Evil Woman"... I was like whoa! That is $^*&($! cool!!

After lurking here for several months I am convinced. I ordered a REDDI today. After the blood I've sweated revamping my gear over the last 18 months or so more and more it just hasn't made sense to have great instruments, an amp and cabs I really like and a DI I was indifferent to.

The dialog in these threads has been incredibly constructive. The raves from people I know are not inclined to blow sunshine unless they really mean it and Peter's continued interest and presence here are ultimately what sold me. Immediately I'm gonna be a lot more confident about my FOH sound live and I'm really looking forward to having it in the studio in Feb.

I would never blow sunshine up your skirt

And that's the reason I got one, too. Hope you dig it, Jeff!

Thanks Jimmy. You ever run it with the Barber Linden in front of it? Seems like it might be a nice match.

I use the Linden with it for upright all the time. I've also run it at home with the Linden to re-eq a couple basses that need it. It's a nice match for sure.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your input and by the way Jimmy is one of the standup kinda guys around here and as a matter of fact there are a bunch of guys I respect here in this thread and not just because they use a REDDI!

I hope you enjoy your new REDDI when you pick it up.

Thanks again,

Could it also just be that there is talent involved too?

Thanks Virgil,

Thanks for the nice words Peter, but I should be introducing Jeff to you. We're old friends from back when I still had a little bit of hair left Talented dude who does/did a lot of big touring on both sides of the gear.
