Redhead OHMS?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 2000 SWR Super Redhead. I glanced the stickies and searched, didnt answer my question.

What ohms are the speakers in the redhead? all the manual and the amp says is 4ohms minimum for the extension cab. I'm going to Get a goliath III tomorrow, does it need to be 8 or 4?

If i get a 4 and the redhead is 8 then i'm going to fry something correct?

Look inside the Redhead, the ohm rating is usually marked on the back of the magnet. "4 ohms minimum" means the extension cab can be 4 ohms, 5.3 ohms, 8 ohms, 16 ohms, etc. Not 2 ohms.

Unless yours has been modified, the Super Redhead combo runs at 4 ohms, and the head is 2 ohm stable so it can be ran with a 4 ohm extension cabinet.

I agree. I used to have a Super Redhead and used a 4 ohm Goliath Jr. with it. Worked fine!! The Redhead 'should' be a 4 ohm impedance from the factory.

I bought it from the original owner, so i am confident its all original. No guarantees.

Thanks for the info guys, I found a Goliath III 4ohm and committed to buying it today, then a friend questioned me and i panicked. I hate bailing on guys after committing, that's bad for business.
