redoing rig. picking cabs

Sign in to disble this ad
I kind of have one and a half rigs:

smallish - OLD Hartke 3500 head, Genz Benz 210T-XB (the original one with the round ports)

mediumish - Demeter pre, QSC PLX 3002 power, GB cab above, Carvin Redline 2X10.

So, the dilema is that I want one good rig with matching cabs. I have kind of a hodge-podge right now. I'm not really happy with the pre/power setup. Kind of want to get a monster head like the Carvin B2000.

The sound in my mind is punchy, full range, focused, but not too hi fi. The big question is this: Can I do better than the Genz Benz cab I'm using now? My sound is a little shy on the lows, but I'm wondering if stacking an identical cab will bring it into "serious oomph" territory.

Or will eg, the Berg HT or Mesa PB I've read about be a "night and day" type of thing. I'm pretty set on stacking two 8 ohm 2X10's, but that's not carved in stone.
