Regular Guitar on EA Doubler and Wizzy 12M?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've used my electric guitar on my Acoustic Image Ten2 before, and it does the job well. Has anyone tried a guitar on a EA Doubler and Wizzy 12M rig before?

I'm just wondering how flexible is it. Thanks!

I heard of the term Doubler. I guess I'm just a Tripler.

I asked the guy at the store. He later got back to me and said the rig provides a flat response from 45Hz to 12kHz. Since that's what I'm looking for, I can't wait to plug in on either of the three instruments (bass guitar, upright bass, or electric guitar)!

I just got my Doubler and Wizzy 12M....

I tried electric bass and electric guitar on Channel 1. The electric bass was fine, but it was too distorted on the guitar when I did chords. But on Channel 2, the guitar chords sounded clean. So I took my rig to rehearsal with my jazz fusion band and used Channel 1 for bass and channel 2 for guitar. It worked fine.

I gotta tell you, this is an amazing amp! The whole house shook with my 5-string. The guitar sounded pretty clean on Channel 2. Heck, in some ways I like it better than my clean sounding Roland Cube. It seemed to mellow out the brightness of the new D'Addario XL nickel wound guitar strings I just switched to (I was using Chromes before).

Hopefully, I'll get a chance to plug in my upright the next day or so.

Do you lose a lot of high end with the wizzy on guitar? I assume you lose some since you mentioned it mellowed out the brightness of the new strings.

I could see this being a killer rhythm guitar tone. Do you play rhythm or lead?

For jazz, I usually comp and then do some solos. I dialed in the tone in with the EQ and like the sound it's producing. I can still go higher on the EQ settings. Thus, I don't think the rig is robbing me of any highs. Just the way I roll....

As another test, I've used my more rocking SZ720FM Ibanez guitar with bright strings and it sounds great. My dad who was in the audience agreed. So no robbing of the high frequencies as long as I dial it in just right.

Hmm, the salesman was right, the wizzy does go to 12kHz. I didn't think it did.

I would not call the wizzy flat, but I prefer it to a speaker that is flat.

I knew the doubler would work well, but I am pleasantly surprised that the wizzy works that well on guitar. I bet you are happy you only need one rig for all three instruments!
