I ordered 5/32, 3/16, and 1/4" material just to get a better visual. For reference, the 5/32" is closest to what you see on Bag Ends and the Berg NVs. Here's a picture of all three next to each other for reference.
Very helpful. Assuming they're all strong enough to protect the speaker, I'd use the one with the greatest open area (according to Reliable Hardware, it's the 5/32").
They all feel plenty stiff. They actually seem to get a bit stiffer as the hole size increases.
Less open area means more metal. Those with less open area will weigh more per square foot. But any of them are more than enough to protect drivers, in 16-gauge thicknesses [0.0598" steel]. Standoff requirements will vary when covering a larger baffle.
