To repair, Or replace!!

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been storing a pretty beat Ampeg B100R, and somewhat recently I've joined a band that could use it.

It needs a new 4 ohm 15" and repair work done on the input jacks, but that alone will cost about the same as a used 100watt fender rumble.

Sooo, what should I do? Sell the Ampeg, and use that money towards a Rumble? Or restore the Ampeg?

what are the pro's and cons??

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Is there any chance that you can do it yourself, or get help from a knowledgeable friend? Neither of those repairs sounds difficult.

I have been installing speakers for quite a while, yeah. I'm more worried about the cost of actually having to purchase the speaker itself. A far as the inputs go, those I would need repaired at a music store of some kind. Which when added together, is probably going to run me over $150..Which I could just get something else for..

I guess it comes down to which of the two amps you prefer the sound of.

No way I'd off a B100R for a Rumble. I'd get it fixed. Speaker Repair Official Site - Parts & Service - Orange County Speaker . Get the speaker reconed for a lot cheaper than a new speaker.

I would do like Jimmy said and re-cone the speaker. As far as the input, I wouldn't pay someone to repair that. I would do it myself and save money. Even if the input jack is soldered to a board, that would still be a very easy fix.
