Replace 10 inch drivers or get new cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
So as much as I hate to say this I think its time to replace my old peavey 410. I had plans on getting an Avatar B212 or 112 to add to my peavey but I may end up selling the 410 to pay. My other option would be to replace the drivers in my 410 if I could save some cash and get a really good tone.(anythings better than the sometime farty tone now) From what I hear about Avatar the tone is incredible and I couldn't replace 4 speakers for less than the price of the 212 so would anyone recommend that or another cab under $800? If anyone prefers 410s I would appreciate some 10'' driver models to try? my equipment running through the cab is music man stingray into a svt 3 pro.

Why not take a look at the Avatar TB153?
Plenty of threads and info about it here.
Might be a good option for you.
Your timing is good, because they will be going
up in price.

Say I got the 8 ohm 153 would anything else sound good with it like a 210 or my 410? would it be better to just get 4 ohms?

Another one of the same but you won't need it if if you've got some power to send it's way. The TB153 is one of the few cabs I'd say get a 4 ohm.

The problem with the OP is that replacing drivers is not as simple a buying four 10" drivers of some sort and installing them. The result of doing so will always be a crapshoot. It may sound great but is more likely to be a losing streak.

Your right Paul, It may be a little ambitious to want to replace the drivers. Ive been doing a lot of wiring repairs on easier stuff, repairing mic and speaker cords, replacing an output and 2 potentiometers in my guitars and I wanted another challenge but I would rather get this TB153.
It looks pretty awesome but I'm really contemplatingusing something else for a boost in the mid frequencies, I know that tweeter makes it smooth as silk but I want to be able to be able to stand out between two guitars in drop C. I feel like I loose everything above the "d" string.
