Which replacement Delta??

Sign in to disble this ad
I opened up my Basson B15b and this is what blown speaker was in it:

On the recommendation of a friend I got the Delta 15LFA which apparently looks like this:

Which one is the proper driver? I may have gotten the LFA by mistake, but I was wondering...are they the same model just different manufacturing times?

I can't for the life of me figure out what the proper speaker for this cab is. Doing a search on any variation of Basson yields almost nothing due to the search filter.

Please help!

They are not the same. Not even close. The LF may work OK, it may even work better. But it may not, it depends on the cabinet.

It looks like two "stock" pics from web sites? What pic did you take?

I didn't take any. The one in my cab is exactly the same as the top picture. No description on the magnet other than just "Delta." That is what is so puzzling. Why would they not print the model of the Delta? Anyway, all of the new Eminence Deltas look roughly like the second pic. I think I am just going to call Eminence tomorrow and see if they have any record as to which Delta was put in the Basson. I could even just get the one that's in it reconed..but only if I know that it is the stock Basson speaker.

Ok I think I figured out. Thanks Bill and everyone else. Looks to be a Delta 15A. The Delta 15B is a 16 ohm model and if it were the Delta Pro 15A I think they would mark it on the magnet.

Look for a number stamped on the speaker 67-_________ that will tell Eminence exactly what driver it is.

The Delta Pro bears no resemblance to the Deltas, as it has a cast frame versus the stamped frame of the Deltas. The difference between the Delta 15 and Delta 15LF is pretty obvious, the Delta 15LF has a bump on the rear of the magnet, the Delta 15 doesn't. The sticker used on the back of the Deltas is the same on the Delta 10, 12 and 15, and that's why it only says Delta.
