Replacement Tubes for Mesa Boogie 400+ - IDEAS?

Sign in to disble this ad
It's time to replace the tubes in my Mesa Boogie 400+.

Mesa recommends 5881 STR-425's, which are essentially a 6L6 package. 6L6's are indicated on the MB website. Mesa says to buy theirs (naturally), but what about Sovtek or JJ? Anyone had any experience with tubes other than Mesa's?

Thanks!

Charlie

I did a set of Matched JJ's back when I had mine (about 2005 or so) and they were great...

All I use are JJ's. And Bob at Eurotubes is right in your backyard. Just tell him what kind of head you have and he'll set you up.

Sovtek no, Winged "C"s yes. More expensive than JJs but slightly better IMO/IME.
