I have an Ashdown MAG410, the old one with the blue speakers.

I THINK i've blown the tweeter but im not sure. Are they all a standard size? Or is there a fuse to replace if not?

What does the tweeter sound like right now? Is there an attenuater (vol knob) on the back panel for it?

There's no pad on the back. Just a couple jacks and a speakon.

I got the cab on friday, and as soon as I got it home, I had it running with the treble flat out. The actual cab volume was only room level. I like the treble "crispy".

Now, the cab sound a little muddy with the eq bypassed, and when i put my ear an inch away from the tweeter, i cant hear anything when i play (not that i can notice)

There is a "bright" button on my head, which boosts at 10k. When i turn it on, i notice a quiet pop from the 10's, but no effect on the tone. I'm trying to decide if its the bright button thats knackered or the tweeter

Most crossovers have a small lamp that acts as a tweeter fuse.

Open the jack plate, which usually has the crossover components and lamp. Or you may see the lamp mounted elsewhere inside the cabinet. Remove the lamp and test with an ohmmeter if you don't see it obviously blown.

Those lamps are usually available in auto-parts supply stores; they're often used for the overhead dome light or other interior accent lighting.

I'm now going to venture into my room with a screwdriver. Will the lamp be mounted near the driver or jackplate?

Have some pics. Found nothing at the jacks, but that has persuaded me to upgrade the sockets... Cheap plastic ones.

No. Maybe your pictures are too large. Check the chart on the manage attachment link.

12mp... havent got time to convert it and whatever.

Basically the speakers are wired in the standard series/parallel arrangement, with the tweet wired in parallel with one of the drivers. The tweet has a cap in series with it. No bulb

The only time I blew a tweeter it made a horrible buzzing sound. No sound at all sounds strange to me considering there is no protective circuit and no attenuator. I'm stumped!

I am not convinced that the tweeter is at fault, but I really don't know. Have you checked the wiring? Are you absolutely sure that the tweeter isn't working? Bass guitar doesn't put out a lot of high frequency information so it could be difficult to hear the tweeter when playing. Can you try some recorded music through your cab to test the tweeter?

Tweeters come in a few different standard sizes just like cone drivers. They also come in a very wide range of efficiency and frequency ranges. If you decide to go ahead and replace the tweeter you will need to remove it and identify it so you can compare it with a replacement. You might need to change the crossover component(s) too, but you can cross that bridge when you get the tweeter info.

Wiring is all good, gave everything a bit of a wiggle everything seems solid... I'm sure the tweet is blown... The cab is a lot less bright than I remember when I first tryed it in my room.

I know my pickups are wired in series, and my strings are a year old. Maybe thats why I cant hear much tweeterage going on?

Your message seems conflicting. On the one hand you say that you know that the tweeter is blown but then you say that your old strings and bass might be the cause. I wish I could diagnose the problem but I can't be sure of what's going on. I know I would feel better about helping you if you could test the tweeter with some music or perhaps a sine wave sweep with your computer.

Sure man, I will work on testing the tweet when I have some time handy. I will prrobably EQ out everything apart from highs and high mids, and maybe try a guitar on it or something. I will be back with more info Cheers so far dude.
