Replacing Eminence 15" Speaker

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a great cabinet, a 10 year Avatar with a single 15" Eninence Legend and tweeter. The speaker is tired and I want to replace it with a Neo. The usual replacement item is an Eminence basslite 2515 rated at 300 watts RMS. Eminence also sells a Kappalite 3015 Neo rated at 450 watts. I want to use this bad boy in it.
Has anyone used the Kappalite and how did they like it?
Thanks!

Avatar now uses the Kappalite 3015LF in their TB153 cab. That box is exactly the same size as their older 1x15 cab. I don't know if they changed their port tuning but that can be easily changed. The old box has a net interior volume of about 3.8 cu. ft. with a tuning of about 50 hz. It looks like the Kappalite 3015 (non LF) would be good for this box if it was tuned to about 45 hz. You could simply shorten the width of the port by a couple of inches to drop the tuning.

mY SITUATION SOLVED

I came up with a solution. I have decided to sell my Avatar b410 and Avatar single 15 cabinet. What I am doing is using the b210 neo and i just ordered another b210 neo from the great people at Avatar. These cabinets will be easier to transport and I have my choice of using eiether one or 2 with my Markbass LM II. I love the other big cabinets but I am turning 60 years old and moving this stuff is a pain. I had an Amperg SVT with 2 810's and 2 Acoustic 360 back in the stone age. Great to see high quality small stuff that sounds better.
