I went to a fabric store (Joann Fabrics) and they had a few different kinds of TOLEX-type material, but I'm sure you could get the real TOLEX from a guitar & amp repair shop. From what I have read, it's glued directly to the wood exterior of the cabinet, so you would need to take off the old stuff first. I covered my 1x15 cab with the hairy type amp cabinet material, and a set of MIDI bass pedals with a tolexy material. They both turned out okay and have held up pretty well.

The material is called tolex. It can found pretty easily, but replacing it on your amp may be more trouble than it's worth. How beat up is this thing?

Do whatever you thing is best. If you think it would look better taking it to a professional do that, but if you dont want to spend the money on it try doing it yourself. Its your call. Post some pics if you get the chance.
