replacing the fans on my Ashdown ABM500 EVO2: how to?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

After a rather long time, I got an EVO2 again.
But the fans are rather loud (no pun intended).
Are they controlled by how hot the amp is or are they always running at the same level?

Could I replace the two fans with other ones that produce less noise?
(Sorry for my english).

Has anyone done that?

I did, but on a Peavey T Max

Hi
For what it's worth

I've peplaced the fan on my old T Max with a less noisy one. No problems so far, but I was very watchfull at first for any sign of overheating. I've kept the original one just in case, but I don't think I'll ever need it.
It was the only thing that I disliked about the Peavey, was well worth it.

I replaced a noisy fan on an amp with a computer fan. What you need to do is look up the specs for the stock fan, ie; voltage, cfm(cubic feet per minute., size, and be aware of the direction of airflow before you remove the old one. Once you know these things , google quiet computer cpu fans, or case fans. They are really pretty cheap. They come in sizes like 60mm, 80mm, 90mm 120mm, etc. Not all computer fans are quiet, so make sure you include "quiet" in your search. They will usually state the db level of the fan.
