replacing speakers ashdown mag 300 c210t

Hi - I'm a regular browser of the forum but haven't needed to post before. I wonder if I can get some advice from you about possibly replacing the speakers on my ashdown combo. I seem to have blown them both somehow (I do generally run a high gain) and I'm thinking about putting a pair of Celestion BL10-200 in to replace them. These are an 8ohm speaker and the ashdown is 307W into 4ohms (I think) - am I committing a major error here or should it be ok?

Many thanks for any ideas!

You are. The choice of a driver involves far more than size and wattage. The driver must be matched to the cab.

Thanks - I was a bit confused!

I've had a look into this but I'm still unsure of the technicals - am I right in thinking that the wattage of the amp depends on the speakers attached? If this amp is 300W into 4ohm it will reduce by something like half if it goes into 8ohm? In that case what would be a good pair of speakers to match the cab?

cheers - and sorry for being such a newb!
