It's a cool pic, but I don't think it means necessarily means he no longer plays GK.

Which must mean that the new Acoustic USA amps sound WAY different than the old ones. I can't imagine an amp less suited to Flea's style/tone than one of the classic Acoustics.

Or that they paid him enough money to endorse them.

I don't mean this in a bad way at all but as much as Flea talks about how he's in it for the music, he's also in it for the money. He left EBMM because they wouldn't give him a signature bass and Modulus would. Not sure why he left Modulus, maybe because Fleabass gave him an entire brand instead of just a few models.

Next you'll see Flea-amp

Doesn't make sense to me. Paid to endorse? That's just wrong.

The pic on Twitter said "planking across my amps". I think the GK days are over.

This sort of arrangement doesn't necessarily fit a predetermined model. Deals are often done on a case-by-case basis. Each case has many variables. In this particular instance, you have a player with world name recognition who's (apparently) going to be touring in a country where disposable income is increasing at a mind-boggling rate. It's always been my belief that the majority of these new US-made models will be sold overseas; that's where the money is these days, after all. So, it makes sense to get the kit some exposure in those markets.

And I bet you think that all those people on TV schlepping everything from Viagra to shaving cream actually use the products that they pitch? Including celebrities who one would think don't need the money? Get real.

Who cares? Aside from the G-K marketing department, that is.

There is probably money involved because the GK 2001RB is a beast of an amp that doesn't often let it's users move on to other equipment. Mine locked me in a closet for three days once simply because I mentioned an SVT.

On a side note...to properly "plank" one must point their feet down at the ground to create a 90 degree angle (perpendicular to the ground). BOOM!
