Requesting Markbass Opinions and Advice

Sign in to disble this ad
I dug around for this info but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. So here are my questions.

I'm looking at Markbass for my new rig. I played some at GC and I love the sound. I'm headed in two directions here and need some advice.

First Rig option. LMIII with Traveler 210 and 115 cabs. or LM800 with Traveler 210 and 115 cabs. Also looking at maybe going 2 of the 115's or two of the 210's.

Second Rig option. The Markbass 210 combo with a 210 or 115 extension cab.

Any setup would be used for mostly small and mid sized bar gigs. With the occasional outdoor gig. I'm interested in the traveler cabs due to the smaller size for portability.

In addition if the Combo head were to blow can you just simply replace it with another, or would a LMIII fit in its place?

Also here's a really dumb question. The LMIII has one speakon out and 1/4 out right. That looks like two outputs to me in pics. Just want to make sure it is two.

Thanks for any advice given. I greatly appreciate it.

i run the 2-10 combo on all of my gigs. on outside & larger gigs i add an ampeg 18 & it really pushes. as for blowing your head markbass has a 2 year warranty & you can just exchange the entire rig for a new one. unless you are beating it up like a mad man.

it does have 2 outs on it. one is 1/4 & one is speakon. on the combo the 1/4 is dedicated to the combo but it can be unplugged.

Yes, 2 speaker jacks out. A 1/4" plug will also work in the speakon out. I love my LMIII and I play it through 2 non MB 2/10 cabs. Plenty loud for almost any gig unless your in a crazy loud band!

I think think the 210 + 115 is an excellent way to go. I have an Avatar 210 and 115, and it thumps...so much so, that I only use my 210 for gigs. I might need the 115 for outdoor or medium sized gigs, but for bar gigs, that 210 does everything I need. I typically use the speakon to the 210, and chain the 1/4 off of that. But I think the speakon is a combo speakon and 1/4"

Hey Disco

I have the traveler 102 + 151
i love that stack. it sounds great and is plenty loud for an outdoor gig
my second choice would be two NY 151 cabs
they sounds great too

i have the LMII and the LMTube800

The difference between them in terms of sound/tone is subtle
both sound great
if 500w is enough for you then i recommend getting the LMIII
you will love it

good luck assembling your new stack

the MB stuff is nice stuff
the LMII/LMIII is a really great bang for buck head...and plenty serious enough in tone and volume

I would say the combo vs head + cab kind of depends on preference, weight, if you like an all MB rig, etc.......
if your ears like it, will be tough to go wrong either way.....

I have 2 LMII heads, but not MB cabs, though they are good too.....

its all good really, comes down to preference......

take care!

I won't post all the info I've said before here, but a search for posts containing Markbass from bassybill will find plenty of comments about my 102P combo and 151P extension cab. Amongst the best purchases I've ever made and a real pleasure to use on every gig I play.

I will second BassyBill's endorsement of the CMD 102P combo. If you were going with separates, I would get the 102HF cab instead of the traveler b/c it's a little bigger but sounds a lot better.

Thanks for all the advice. It's nice to see my train of thought validated by others from time to time.
