So I bought a beat up 8x10 with only four 10's in it, so I have begun ordering new speakers for it. So, my first question is this, the speakers that are in it are 100 watt 32 ohm speakers, the speakers I am ordering now are 150 watts 32 ohm. So knowing this, I have to put the 150 watt speakers at the bottom of the chain of speakers correct? Otherwise I would have a high risk of blowing the 100 watt speaker if a 150 watt speaker came before it, passing off a stronger signal?
Second, in the long run I do plan on replacing all eight speakers, but will have these two different speakers be that big of a deal. I know some people say always have matching speakers, and some say its not too big of a deal.
Third, I was thinking about upgrading the speaker wire. I play through a Ampeg SVP into a 600 watt power amp, so Should I use 12 gauge wire? And anyone have any recommendations?
Lots of questions. Just looking for someone to say, yeah thats sounds right, or WAIT! DUMBASS! DON'T DO IT! haha.

I wouldnt bother changing the internal speaker wires, there isnt alot of power going to each one anyways but mabe the speaker cord which handels all the power between you head and cab would benifit from 12 or 14 gauge wire. I'm guessing your going with the emenence legend b810 speakers if they are 32 ohm, thats what i would use and they should mix well with your other speakers. |
