'allo.
so, i know i've seen this discussed, couldn't find POO with the search function, and i can't remember what threads it was brought up in.
i just picked up an amp stand so that for gigs with good FOH i can just bring one 12 and a micro head, get mic'd or go DI and still have a bass only monitor pointed towards my head-meats. i'm using an SWR AmpLite on top of an Aggy GS112 and it's going to be plugged into a pedal board so there's not going to be something pulling on the head.
but nobody EVER trips over loose cables and pulls down expensive gear to get all woppled into uselessness on stage ne?
anybody have any good suggestions for stabilizing the little Amp Bugger so that if the cord DOES get a good tug on it it doesn't fly out and wack somebody in the face and or other gentle parts?
murrrrrrrr?
thanks! |

i was thinking about bungees, but i'm trying not to look ghetto. the problem with tape is that i know me, and i'll lose any tape i pack and/or get too distracted during setup to tape them cables down.
i like the velcro idea. the GS's have that fuzzy carpetty stuff on them. was thinking about cutting a square of it off and mounting soft side industrial velcro in it's place. bad idea? i love my GS112's, have 3 of them, and am not worried about the resale value at all. |

the tying the cable into the handle is an awesome idea. might couple that with putting some grabby velcro on the bottom of the amp.
right now is Nap Time though. played a bit late last night, have a show tonight and tomorrow. Sleep Time Is GO. |

Use a velcro strap. | well, with Aggy's it's all black carpet with black hardware and the handle recesses on the side, so i think it'd be pretty subtle with a black cord. just looking at it using a bungee seems like it'd be more noticeable.
plus, less stuff to lose during set up and tear down = bettah.
seems like a velcro strap wouldn't work GREAT unless you added someting for it to hook to. the carpet's a bit grabby, but not super. thanks tho! Quote:

i've been checking your links to the Greenboy nEarful stuff, and been very interested in them, BurningSky's speaks very highly of his cab, but responses that come off a bit ass-hat-ish are a mite off-putting.
just sayin'. |

plus, less stuff to lose during set up and tear down = bettah. | The pro stage tech part of me cringes at the thought of tying any cable in a knot for any reason. It's not the "look" as much as the abuse to the cable. If it was me I'd tie (with an un-removable constrictor knot) a piece of #5 black sash cord onto the cable where it needs to sit on the handle. The string always lives on the cord and is used to tie up the coil when it's packed to travel. That's the pro way: Simple, cheap, durable, easy to get and it works better than anything else you could possibly think of. |

I wouldn't want to TIE it in a way that would prematurely wear the cable, but an extra loop is cheap insurance...I do the same around my strap to protect the output jack of my bass.
