Rethinking my entire rig. Suggestions?

I have owned the full on racked head for a while (amp, tuner, Furman). I had some issues with my Eden head, and it needs repair. Not bad for 12 years with no problems.

In any event, I've talked to some great folks on here about amp ideas.

Many have suggested looking at micro amps. I think this is a great idea, and may allow me to pack my amps in my rolling suit case.

My idea:
Sell my amp, once serviced and working 100%
Sell my Korg DTR-1
Sell my Furman PL-Plus
Sell my SKB 8 space rack

Buy a Genz Benz 9.0 Shuttle or Streamliner
Buy a GK MB200 (backup)
Buy a pedal tuner and add it to my board.

This would save me weight and the bulk of the rack head.

Is there anything I should be cautious of before considering such a bold move?

Buy a Shuttle .2 series in whichever format you prefer. Other than that, looks like a plan!

Why .2 series? I see nice deals on these Shuttle 9.0's. Not good?
Any advice on pedal board tuners?

Just buy a new head. Then you're off to go.
Maybe a bit smaller rack.

If it were me, I'd go a slightly different route:
Keep the Eden - it now becomes the backup.
Lose the 8-space rack, tuner and Furman.
Put the Eden in a 2-space rack.
Get a Boss pedal tuner - simple, cheap, works.
Get a micro head - I'm not going to steer you toward a particular one, here. There are a lot out there now, and they all have significantly different sounds. If you have the luxury of shopping around, I'd suggest trying as many as you can with your cabs.

Lightweight heads are a wonderful thing, and I use 'em when I have to travel light, but I'm not giving up my Eden head any time soon. I use a Carvin BX500 and an Aggie TH500. They both sound great and they sound very different from each other.
Neither of them sounds anything like my Eden!

I think you should get whatever rig makes you happy, but if part of the plan is to shed weight, those two 4x10" cabs will be the same size no matter what amp you decide on.

Right now I need the big cabs for the genre of music I'm currently doing. Down the road, if this gig ends, I will downsize. I could also get the amp fixed, rack my spare and get a six space rack. Not sure if that makes a ton of sense.

for some reason my components were just much better sounding than my micro. the micro was the 500w MarkBass III. my rack contains a Demeter pre w/ a Stewart World 1.2 amp.

the Class H Stewart has such an awesome fundamental note compared to the Class D micro! i'm sure the GB kicks butt, though. if i recall correctly, the H's transformer runs @ 120MHZ and the D runs @ 120KHZ. don't quote me on the accuracy of those figures, but suffice to say the refresh rate of the "H" is 10x faster.

the faster tranny retains more of the musical content of each note. the A/B test was conclusive! YMMV

Sounds like a plan. I did the same thing, but also got some neo cabs. The Shuttle 9.0 is great, but it's just a tiny notch below the MB800. Having the MB200 as a backup is a superb plan. I have one, and it's a powerful little beast. Great practice amp, too.

Here's a pic of what I used to have. I still have the Aguilar rig, but it too is for sale. While these rigs are spectacular, they're heavy and I'm old. I miss them a little from a sentimental standpoint, but I don't miss them at all when I'm loading in and out of a gig.



Here's a pic of my amps that replaced the lead sleds. Add all four sizes of Bergantino AE cabs. The MB200 is not shown.

That 8-space rack is a spacehog. If those light-duty racks work for you, I'd put the Eden in a two-space rack or rack bag. (A rack bag would be slightly heavier than the Gator style rack, but it would gain you a strap and an extra gear pocket.)

Munji, you can be modest about your gear, but you still have the nicest bass on TB
