My custom 2x12 from Don at LDS arrived a week ago. I'm super impressed. He delivered exactly what I was looking for, and the price was more than right.
No horn. Just 2 x Neo 12" with a bottom port. I don't know why I haven't tried a 2x12 before. Tone perfection. Punchy but with plenty of lows. Total balance.

Dan, what cabs can you compare this to? I'm trying to get a frame of reference on the tones. On your video, you said this is fuller sounding than a cab with a ten. Have you compared it to any high-quality 2X10 cabs? Thanks.

The only drawback was delivery time. Don predicted about 8 weeks, but it was more like 10. But worth the wait.

Have you compared it to any high-quality 2X10 cabs? Thanks. | I've owned a couple of Avatar 2x10 cabs, and while they sounded good, and I loved their size, they were just missing something on the bottom. Then I tried going with a single 15, but then I missed the punch of the 10's. So I decided to try a 2x12. But most of the 2x12 cabs on the market are bulky - the speakers are stacked at an angle. I wanted them stacked vertically. So I reached out to Don and he was super helpful.
This is the only cab I'll need. I can't wait to use it at rehearsal, or a gig. But first I gotta find a band that plays stuff I want to play.

Congrats though! | Thanks. My tone is ultra old school, so I only need the bottom and mids. I leave the highs for the guitar and vocals.
But for a slap player, I could see needing a horn or maybe a 6".

My brother was thinking of having a 2x12 built with 3012-LF drivers and I suggested an nd410 mid driver to go with it. That would be a great cab. A 15/6 would be more bang for the buck but, there is no denying that the 12's could sound tighter. Yeah, I know that tuning effects this but, I've heard way to many well built cabs in the last few years to have one more person tell me that speaker size doesn't effect the tone. This is a great looking 2x12 and it's stacked vertically! |

Ear Candy BassBomb is the same size but a little more weight from different speakers.
Proabably impossible to compare the two but curious if this cab has a mid bump. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
