Rewiring an Eden 810xlt

Sign in to disble this ad
Is it possible to rewire 8 8ohm drivers for two individual 4 ohm loads (top and bottom)? Or is there a combination of
Series/Parallel wiring that would allow for a 2 ohm load.

I plan using an Acoustic 370 to power the cab, and I'd like to get the most out of the head.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Even if you could do it (which you can't), the difference in sound level would be negligable.

I wouldn't bother messing w/ the impedance. 2 cases:

1. If you're playing SS, there's more power to be gained, but it's not gonna be a significant volume change like you'd get with more drivers. Also, if a manufacturer's rating of the impedance is off, and the amp isn't robust enough, you could potentially kick your amp into protection mode or damage it. Though it's unlikely, but I wouldn't bother.

2. If you're playing through a tube amp, this is where impedance actually matters since you don't want to hook up too high an impedance. But there are normally switches that allow you to change the impedance on your amp.

If you split the cab into two separate loads (4 speakers per load), your choices are 2, 8, or 32 ohms (per load).

If you keep the cab as one big load, your choices are 1, 4, 16, or 64 ohms.
