RH750 Neutral Settings [sorta]

Sign in to disble this ad
Trying to figure out this new [to me] amp, I ran my stereo into a mixer (EQ bypassed), then sent one stereo signal to .. well my stereo .. and summed an alternative stereo signal to an aux output, and ran that into the RH750 hooked to a relatively flat speaker (VL-208). I then tried to get the two chains to sound as close as possible - tweaking knobs only the Bass Amp - figuring that would show the Hi-fi Setting. Assuming this was a good experiment - here's what I ended up with.

Bass: Gain minus 3 clicks; Freq' minus 3 clicks
Low-Mid: Gain minus 3 clicks; Freq' 0 clicks (top dead center)
High-Mid: Gain minus 8 clicks; Freq' plus 2 clicks
Treble Gain minus 1 click; Freq' 0 clicks (top dead center)
Tweetertone: Plus 9

The actual settings would vary a bit from recording to recording but they were all in the ballpark. I save it as a reference memory.

... just thought I'd share.

Bass Gear Magazine came up with these settings to make RH450 flat, which should be similar:

Bass: Gain minus 8 clicks; Freq' minus 7 clicks
Low-Mid: Gain plus 7 clicks; Freq' minus 12 clicks
High-Mid: Gain plus 4 clicks; Freq' minus 11 clicks
Treble Gain plus 12 clicks; Freq' plus 12 clicks

THANKS ... their method had to be more scientific than mine ... I'll try it out tonight.

The photograph of these settings is here, page 60.

The pictures are labelled in reverse; it's actually the top picture that shows the "shift" button engaged. And for the record, the RH750 and 450 EQ points and ranges are identical, but the 750 is not set with everything at "noon" in the factory.
