Rig Chirp!

Sign in to disble this ad
Last night at rehearsal I decided to use my SWR 350X with my drummers cabs: 2 GK RBH 2X10's @8ohms a piece. The 350x is designed to handle two 8ohm cabs, bringing the amp to 350 watts a 4ohms. I usually run my SWR with a VTBass driving the front end, bypassing the amps eq and just using the power section. I plugged the vt into the effects return as I always do and played a few notes when I heard this violent CHIRP! almost like a chord being ripped from a jack. I was actually facing the rig when this happened and saw the speakers move quite a bit when this happened. Played again and CHIRP! This time I noticed the PREAMP CLIP LED light red, which is weird because I was bypassing the pre...
Anyway, I unplugged one cab, played and heard no chirp. Then I went direct to the inst input and everything was fine there too. I plugged the other cab back in, plugged back into the return(from the VT) and then everything was fine the rest of the night, even with some heavy playing and volume. Should I be concerned? Sound like a cab or head issue?

i think you have a crow trapped in your cab.

sounds like you had an intermittent connection somewhere and fixed it once you did all the replugging. maybe you didn't plug something in all the way. i wouldn't worry about it for now.
