Here are the goals;
1. Tight punchy bass and versatile mids/highs that can dial in clean, growl, grind or grit.
2. Two amp/speaker rigs. Top rig handles mids and highs, bottom rig handles lows.
3. Each rig should be able to run full-range on its own for smaller gigs.
4. Top rig should have two cabs with a single speaker in each so I can aim them slightly differently for good off-axis dispersion.
5. Top rig should be lightweight and small to fit in a little car.
I'm pretty well happy with my Eden WT550 and D410xlt for the low half of the rig.
I got a great sound sitting an SWR Redhead 2x10 375 watt combo amp on top of that, but the SWR is not loud enough to gig by itself. Also I can't point the 2x10s in different directions.
I'm currently trying a Genz-Benz Streamliner 600 going into two 1x12 cabs (Epifani PS112 and Hartke Hydrive 1x12) and the sound is just not making it. The rig sounds OK by itself (not awesome) but together with the Eden stuff the bass is muddy and there's something ungood in the mids that I can't EQ out.
Is there a reason why a 4x10 with two 1x12s is not a good match? Some years ago I had good success with a JBL 1x15 and two JBL 1x10s.
Are the speaker brands or models unsuited to work with each other? I'd go Eden for the 1x12s but they are not lightweight and I've heard they don't sound that good.
They're currently all stacked vertically, 4x10 on the floor, Epifani in the middle, Hartke on the top.
Thanks for advice and opinions
