Hey everyone!
So I'm in a situation here.... I have a lot of options of how to go about buying a new bass rig. HELP ME!
My options for heads:
Ampeg SVT-350H: $350
GK MB-200: $308 (with tax)
SWR Workingman's 300: $200
SWR Workingman's 160: $150
Cabs:
Peavey 80's 410: $120
Carvin 410: $200
OR... ??
SO?
I have no idea where to go on this one. I really wish I could find an Ampeg 410HLF for a good price.
I like the SVT because it is more power. And the SWR's are just nice in general! But I don't know if the lower amps are going to cut it! I play in a band with a reasonable hitting drummer, and two blistering guitarists. We play pretty high volume gigs, and most of the time there's a PA involved, so I could just DI. However... Sometimes there may not be a PA, so I'll need a rig that will provide in that situation too. Of course, those gigs will be quieter in general due to the lack of vocal power, so I don't have huge worries there.
With the SVT, it's awesome, but HEAVY. Like. these other heads are less than 10 pounds, and this one is 44. I would love to basically sport the MB-200 because it's only two pounds... but am I sacrificing tone with a class-D amp? And what class is the SVT?
answers are always awesome, thanks so much! |
