rig setup

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, new to the forum here. just getting back into music after about a 12 year hiatus.

just picked up a bunch of new gear

an swr 750x w 2 goliath 3 cabs. i run an effects processor through the efx loop

i still have my old rig which is a peavey 210tx 115 bx with a swr workinmans 350

i also have a peavey mark vi bass head too

i wanted to figure out the best way to incorporate the 2 peavey speaker into my setup.

either add a seperate power amp to power them and use the preout of the 750x so i get the same efx loop through alll 4 speakers,

or do i use a y box and use both heads,

or sell all the heads and get a swr sm-1500.

i dont really need the extra speakers or power on stage, just for fun and for looks really

i wouldn't even bother. an 810 rig looks plenty impressive by itself. but if you want to do it badly enough, use two amps and get an aby box or a pedal that splits into two channels.

ok, so here's what ive done

i went and picked up a hartke h1000 with a 8x10 cab

my other set up tthe swr 750 x and 2 goliath 3's

i use a digitech efx processor through the efx loop of the swr where i have a efx loop control for how much i want in the mix.

the hartke does not have this.

is there a way to use the preamp out of the swr and run it into the hartke and just use the hartkes power amp side to power the cab using all the setting from the swr so i am getting the same efx loop through both?...i really want to do a 1/2 clean 1/2 efx and i can only do this with the swr efx control

If your Digitech efx processor has dual or stereo outputs you could plug the second/unused output into the Hartke's Effects return jack. If the Digitech just has a single output you could use a splitter adaptor similar to this instead: http://www.performanceaudio.com/cgi/...ducts_id=10700

Thing is Inputting the power amp of your Hartke like this will most likely bypass its tone knobs/EQ, and the EQ settings that sound best for your SWR cabs may not necessarily sound the best through your Hartke speakers. If this is an issue, another option you could try here is the same setup but inputting one of the Hartke's front inputs instead. You'd be hitting it with a hotter Preamp level signal so expect to use lower Gain knob settings to compensate. Using the Hartke's -10db input might end up sounding best in this situation but you could try both.

Sometimes connecting 2 amps together causes ground-loop and hum noise issues. If you run into troubles with this there's some more expensive splitter box devices available to help solve these problems. But for now just give it a try with everything plugged into the same power outlet.
