RMS Rating on Avatar B410 Neo

Sign in to disble this ad
Just purchased a 3 year old Avatar B410 Neo cab from the original owner.
Their current line rates this cab at 1000 watts on 8 ohms.
Does anyone know if that's true for the previous (2008?) 410 Neo?
I took out one of the speakers but couldn't find any reference.

Also, would a GB Shuttle 6.0 or 9.0 be a good match for this cab?

They were rated the same 3 years ago. I found any head to be a good match with that cab. Everything I've tried through mine sounded good. As far as the power rating goes, i dont believe anything published because that is the wattage they will take before frying the voice coil but any speaker can be damaged with alot less wattage than the rating if your running alot of low end. You will know if your cab doesnt like what is being thrown at it because it will fart out.

Also a former owner, and one cab I regret selling, but when you have kids.....

It'll take just about anything you can throw at it. I had a 4 ohm version, powered with a Fender 800 Pro (VERY under rated amp, IMO) and it was a great combination.

I use a PLX QSC 1202 and the cab is 8 ohm 4x10 NEO. Sounds great and plenty power. The 1202 is 750 W at 8 ohm 1200 W 4 ohm - I run bridge mono. I was wandering if the 1602 PLX would be too much for this cab.

I have an 8 ohm 4-10 neo that is about that same age and power it with a Carvin DCM1500 power amp run in bridged mode. The amp is rated at 1000 watts @ 8 ohm and I have never had a problem with the cab. Sounds great and very loud.

Just fer clarity's sake...Cabs don't have an RMS (root-means-square) rating...that's one of the ratings that's used for an amp's output power. Cabs have a thermal handling and a excursion limited handling.

Almost all cab companies list the thermal handling rather than the excursion rating, because its usually a higher number and sounds more impressive than quoting the excursion limits.
