Road case for cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
If I decide to put a cabinet into road case, will that somehow have influence on it's sound? Does it come to some sort of damping or something?
Any experiences? I'm curious cause I don't want to spend loads of money for something I wouldn't like. I prefer scratched/torn cab then
Thanks for any info.

Typically road case for cabs and heads have a very short bottom "tray" section and a larger "top" section. When you take the top off, only the bottom 2-3" or so of the cab sits in the tray, leaving the speakers not blocked by anything. If you have slot-port cab, obviously that won't work and you have to take the cab out of the case. Here's what I'm talking about:

When I had a pair if SWR Goliath III's in road cases, I would either take them out to stack, or leave them in but pull the front of the cab up and rest it on the edge of the case. Gave it a little angle and didn't block the port. I did this when using one cab, and sometimes I would just put both of them side by side this way. I don't think I ever noticed to much difference tone wise.

Hi.

The only sound that a cab road-case will influence is the one the roadies will make .

IME, the bigger cab road cases I've seen, like the ones for SVT fridges, have a removable front, and an access panel at rear.

it's always interesting to protect our gear with road case.
Some of them like Mikeddd showed is made in two pieces. One bottom where the cab stands and one top (like a hat) that is removed for use.
For smaller cab like 2x10, 1x15 and 4x10, you can use the top of the road case as a stand for your cab.

Other type of cases consist of a front lid that is removed for playing

None of them will change your tone.
