Robin Trower eBay auction

Robin Trower is in the process of unloading some used gear on eBay, a few items at a time over the next few weeks. Here's a couple of items that might be of interest here in the Amps forum.

Rare Robin Trower - SVT-4-Pro Bass Head | eBay

Rare Robin Trower - SVT-810E Classic Bass Cabinet | eBay

I thought RT played guitar and what is rare about this head?

How many bass amps and cabs has Robin Trower ever owned? That makes them rare. Not necessarily more valuable, though. We'll see...maybe a crazed Trower fan will buy them or something.

I like me some Robin Trower but I never heard him play a bass and I think it's kinda sad seeing whatever it is auctioned off on ebay....unless it's needed for some catastrophic family illness or something in which case I'll eat my words and send a donation. I wonder what kind of a record deal / live performance contract he had if it's come to this. Maybe he's just trying to help out a bass player which is cool.

I see nothing wrong with Ebay sales for rock stars. I can't tell him what to do with his gear any more than he could tell me. I'm sure he makes decent jack but his glory days were 35 years ago, and everyone can use a little spending cash.

At Trower's website is an explanation that they're just auctioning off surplus equipment. Most of it is guitar-related but there's also some drums and some bass gear.

Good points.

It's possible I just tend to hang on to things. Of you ever saw my "gear room" you'd likely tell me I need to ebay some stuff too. Few nice pieces but mostly just pieces.

I need to inventory this stuff and explain what it is so somebody will know what to do with it if I keel over dead earlier than expected.

I have a list going as well, but I know my wife will take $500 for my SVT just to get rid of it
