I play heavy strings on my basses, so I just tuned the low E down to B and hammered away at full tilt through the DB680 with the deep switch engaged in the "++" setting, which is a big bump down in the 30's, and the only thing that happened was all the pictures and stuff I'm the room shook. I think we're good to go! |

Really feels like a tube head with that big low end, and the cab reproduces it beautifully. I was running into the SWR Power 750 which does a good 750 watts into four ohms, and I'm pleased at the overall output, even coming from the 2500+(whatever I can actually get out of my 20A wall circuit) of the QSC. I'm kind of gassing for a Mesa M9 again because I think the huge low end would be a lot of fun through this thing. http://youtu.be/MDNNTfxHGaw |

I guess I'll have to dig it out as well...... |

You don't have to have Ken come up. I have a set of 113's on one of my Musicmans that we can drop to C.

Before I got my crossover built, I was testing out the 10 in one of these boxes: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=260-642
...using the high pass crossover in my DB680 because I hadn't got around to building mine yet. Just evaluating general behavior, tonality, etc. Anyway, I don't think the DB's crossover is very steep, or maybe just the frequency dial is off, but I got a little over-zealous (imagine that) and creased the cone in the current driver. I was putting 775 watts into it so go figure.... anyhow, it works fine but needs to ultimately be replaced. I may have roughed it up a bit too much. It's much more protected with my crossover, but it's showing some mild signs of unhappiness at the extreme end of things due to the initial beating I subjected it to. Now that I've verified my crossover, sensitivities, impedance, etc.. I figured I'd give a few more 10's a whirl before I settle on something. Have two coming this week and a few more candidates if those don't work out, but it adds up... There are some pretty good choices though. The 8's were slim pickins by comparison. |

Here's a guy building a very wanted preamp with a Fractal. Jon, you're redefining the tech possibilities. Wow.
