Roland's website and the amp's manual says it's a 100 watts, but you can ad an extra cab. Does it push out the 100 watts with the internal speaker or you need the extra cab to do so ? |

The ext.cab jack is wired in SERIES, so it puts out LESS power when a cab is added.

If you add an extension speaker, it will put out 50 watts into each speaker.
You won't get much more volume but what you WILL get is a fuller sound. |

And enough for a moderate drummer, even with the internal speaker only, I read... true ? |

If you add an extension speaker, it will put out 50 watts into each speaker. | If you add a second identical speaker, each speaker will receive half the available power. That power will be a fair chunk less than the 100W rating.

I've used mine several times for rock band rehearsal, and it was fine even in my current band with our insanely loud drummer. We rehearse in a small room, which the Roland fills easily.
In my previous band, I did add another cab, which we used as a bass monitor for the drummer. It worked well but, as others said, it didn't produce a volume increase. It sounded slightly fuller, but that's it. This was a relatively inefficient, eight ohm 1x10 cab though. With a very efficient four ohm extension cab, I bet you'd get a volume increase.

You see, I'm thinking of replacing an heavy 1x15 200 watter (my second amp, main one is an SVT stack) for a cube, in order to save room, ease transportation and sound better at low volume for home practice. Knowing it will work with a band is a good thing. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
