Roland Cube Bass 60 needs help!

Sign in to disble this ad
I need some guidance to get my vintage Cube Bass 60 performing the way it used to. I was playing thru it at very low volume when it started smoking. Took it to a friend who replaced a Silicon PnP transistor that was cracked. He also replaced a 330ohm resistor next to the transistor. The amp
operates now but it sounds like I'm using a distortion pedal all the time. I have a schematic and I can unsolder and solder new components but don't know which ones may be failing. I get CLEAN sound from the headphone jack. I get distorted sound when I hooked an extension speaker to the external speaker jack. So I believe my new Celestion speaker is fine. The friend who replaced the two parts says he doesn't know what could be causing the distortion. Even though I paid him to fix what he did he doesn't know that much about audio amps. Can anyone help me?
