Rumble 150 opinion? lots of noise on mine

Sign in to disble this ad

First post on this website! Just bought first bass(Ibanez Prestige 3000 SOL) and first amp....

I recently recieved a Fender Rumble 35 as a gift. Its tone was pleasant enough but I needed more power, so i exchanged it towards a Fender Rumble 150. Unfortunately I feel that the tone is lacking on this larger 150watt model compared to its smaller brother. It also seems to have noise issues whenever the tweeter is on. I'm wondering if its the design or if i got a lemon. Has anyone else played the Rumble150 and had this same issue?

If I end up doing another exchange, any recommendations around 100-250 watts?

I play one at church...no problems with noise. The tone is subjective. It took me awhile to find a setting I like, but I use a Zoom B2 for FOH sound, and the Fender amp as a stage monitor. Since there are 2 eq's to deal with (amp and Zoom), it was a bit more complicated to find a tone that I like. I actually found several. I think the Rumble is pretty versatile, if you give it a chance.

*Note: I didn't even know that there was a tweeter on/off, so I'm not sure how it's set at church. That would explain why about 6 months ago all of my Zoom B2 settings suddenly didn't work with the amp. I'll bet one of the other bass players changed the tweeter setting. Where is the tweeter switch?

The tweeter switch is to the very right of the panel, beside the on/off switch

I play there in a couple of weeks. I'll try playing with the switch and see if it's noisy.
