| | Registered User | | | | | RUNNING 2 AMPS - BASSMAN TV-15 I was thinking of running 2 Bassman TV-15s based on you cannot run another cab without changing out the speaker. I have read on TB about how speakers should be vertical aligned and i do wish to get the speakers closer my ear level.... But based on the Bassman TVs having the controls on the top and them not being really square, stacking them would be a little bit of a problem (but still doable!) The question is having 2 of them sitting next to each other at floor level going to do much of anything for me?? (Excpet using up floor space!) Thanks!
Actually as long as I'm asking stupid question, would it be worth adding a second cab with a single 15 under the bassman and wiring them to 8 ohms total? I would end up with 2 x 15s stacked semi vertical but knock my wattage down....plus i'm not sure it would hurt the amp to run a 8 ohm load!

You could run 2 complete combo's if you wanted. Stack them sideways if it helps, but side by side would sound worse out in the room, and do you no good in hearing them better.

So would i come out better or worse than just running the amp by itself on the floor????
Sounds like 2 amps not stacked doesn't buy me anything!

Yeah, you'd lose a bit of wattage, but you'd gain air, and get the top spkr closer to your ears. Not sure if it's worth it or not. This is why I never recommend a combo amp without an ext spkr jack. The OP says "running 2 amps", hence, my first response.

| | | | I have the same combo. What I plan to do is buy two of the 8 ohm Celestion BL15-400x drivers ands either build a 2x15 combo or just build a extension cab. Something along the lines of a dually combo would be awesome I think. |

combo amps without ext. speaker capability are just practice amps as far as i'm concerned

| | | | My Tv15 is loud enough for everything I do, except outside gigs. Plus it sounds great. Much louder than a loud drummer. The only reason I plan on modding it is for the outdoor gigs we do. The OP already has the amp and is asking for advice not criticism. OP my 02 cents is that it's going to be much cheaper to replace the speakers and mod it with a extension cab. Buying another tv15 is going to run you about 600 bucks possibly. |

I found a guy on EBAY that would me make me a matching tweed TV cab.
Problem is by the time you switch out the 2 speakers plus buy the cab youre not all that far from the price of another used amp....but messing with one volume control is a lot easier than 2! Thanks for the help ed

| | | | The BL15-400x 4 ohm driver is the OE speaker. Because I love the tone of the OE speaker I plan on using the 8 ohm version. |

I've heard a lot more bad tone from bassist who don't understand the mix than I ever have from mixing 2 10's and a 15. Just sayin... |

Don't blame me, blame all the audio engineers and the documented proof.
Boy I wish Bill F was never "run off" this site.

| | Registered User | | | | | I will get the guys phone number and post tonight along with a EBAY auction number so you can see his work. He will basically build you anything you want. I just gave him the dimension from the bottom of the bassman and the same height! Seems like a real cool guy.
Wow some of these guys get a little nasty on this forum!
Sometimes i find it strange that everyone is complete down on anything not stacked vertical, but everyone is using 4x10 cabs...maybe we all should disconnect the 2 outside speakers! |

But, if it's just for the player, (ie: PA system for house), then none of it really matters. It's the "beaming" of the mid frequencies farther away from the cab, out in the room, that sound awful, depending on where exactly the listener is positioned.

You can check out the guys listing on EBAY by searching for "Fender TV Front Cabinet", these are smaller than a Bassman TV but he said he would make one the size i wanted for the same price. Cool guy, he can be contacted at guitarhardware@aol.com he sounds like he will make anything you want. (hope it isn't against the rules to give out his information!) |

| | | | Thanks Rock-n-Dawg. I'll check it out. I'll probably start my build thread in a week or two. I've decided to just build a 2x15 combo with the 8 ohm BL15-400x drivers. I'll do everything myself except for the upholstery. That will cut the out if pocket expense way down. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
