Running 2 head in one cab

Sign in to disble this ad
Not at the same time! I have 2 heads and one cab and I'm sick of plugging and unplugging them so I was wondering if I could keep them both plugged via parallel input and run them one at a time

Thanks

Radial makes a device that will do this. Search Radial products for the answer.

You would not want to leave them plugged in at the same time. Even if one was powered off power would be on the speaker cable back into the amp and you will likely damage one or both of the heads. Some sort of switching box like the Radial mentioned above would work since that is what it is designed for.

Amplifiers and speakers need to be a matched set. Ohms to ohms (saves the amp) and watts to watts (saves the speakers). If you want to change cabs or amps you need to make changes with "EVERYTHING" turned off.

Does the Radial system turn off the amps when switching? Does the Radial system put a dummy load on the amp not in use? Does the Radial system isolate the two amps from each other? Does the Radial system switch your bass from amp to amp?

I would stay away from all that mucking around and just use one amp/cab at a time.

This comes from a guy that owns 25 amps and as many speakers.

YMMV

No, yes, yes, and yes. With the dummy load and/or solid state amps it's unnecessary to turn off the unused amp.

The Radial switcher is designed to do exactly what the op is looking to do, and safely.

Might work. Just keep a fire extinguisher near by.

You can juggle flaming batons too...equally advisable.

Here is the Radial Product
Tonebone Headbone VT valve tube amp head switcher - introduction

This is more expensive and more versatile, but doesn't appear to be currently in production:
Sound Sculpture: HeadTrip - Midi Swap Heads, Amps, Speakers and more! GROOVY!

Expensive CAE
Product :: CAE Amp Selector

This allows you to switch heads, but doesn't switch the guitar...
