Running a 450W head w/ a 2000w Power Amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Behringer BX4500 head and am in the process of transitioning from that to a power amp/ sansamp combo. But until i get the cash its either power amp or sansamp to run with my current head. Im running into 2 BA410 cabs. I need more power at the moment because my head cant handle the 2 ohm load.

So would it be wise to run the head with an ep2000 amp? if so, how would i hook it up? head output to amp to cabs? Maybe through the effects loop? Thats just a few suggestions I have heard.

You guys are smarter than me so let me know what you think I should do.

You can do what you are proposing. Connect the preamp out (if it has one) or effects send of the Behringer unit to one of the channel inputs of the power amp. Connect the speakers to the power amp.

a 2000w power amp is tremendous overkill for those cabs. if those cabs took 800w total in real world usage, i'd be surprised. you can use it, but watch your volume for sure.
