Running GB Full range?

Sign in to disble this ad
I know it's an unorthodox use but living in South Korea calls for it.

My band plays a place regulary but their main speakers are places a jillion miles to each side of the stage. They have no monitor system or any interest in getting one. All that play there feel they sound like **** and are nerve wracked the whole time wondering if they are in key or on rythm.

So, I have a Genz shuttle 3.0-8T and a 1x12 extension cabinet. I know it's not what they are for but would there be risk of damaging them at moderate volume running full range. All that would go through the monitors would be vox, guitar, bass. I would run my bass signal through the house bass combo and the front house speakers. Any thoughts?

should be fine to do it. not sure why you'd need to go through the house combo, too. what is the house combo?

Should work fine. All of the components of the Shuttle (including the speakers) are based on pro audio type designs, a little more robust than typical musical instrument products.

Playing an iPod through the Shuttle's AUX in jack sounds good and that's as full range as you get.

Snacks!

@ JimmyJ - The house bass combo is a Laney RB8 300 watt cab with a 15" speaker. I'm not a lover of 15" speakers but it will merely give stage presense then run into the PA. My gear certainly would light up my bass on stage but the lack of monitors just is worse than mediocre bass sound.

honestly, i think you'll find the laney unnecessary with your shuttle rig. but i guess while it's there, might as well give it a shot

Sound system home run using the 3.0-8T + 12" extension cab. The entire band was bathed in oour sound and confidense increased exponentialy. Thnaks for the responses!
