Running MB CMD102P with GB NeoX212

So, I know there's a lot of people who feel strongly that if you are going to run more than one cab, you should always run 2 of the SAME cab. I get that.

However...

I have a MB CMD102P, and I am, more and more, realizing that most of the time I need more speaker than what those 2 little 10 inch speakers can deliver. I seem to often hit the "fart out" limit on my guys - I am guessing I am hitting the limit on excursion because I'm nowhere near the limit on the amp. I adjust to it by turning down the bass and drive controls to allow me to hit the higher volume I need but I'd rather have the tone I want, not the tone I am limited to.

So I see as my options:

1) Live with it. (always an option, rarely preferable)

2) Get a MB 102HF which is the cab only version of my combo and run them both.

3) Get a 2x12 or 1x15 cab and run that with my combo until I can get a trade happening with my combo for just a MB head, so I will eventually end up with a head and a single, more capable cab. This option will have me playing with a mismatched set for a while, which I could partially mitigate by putting the stacking the cabs on their sides (so the drivers form a single vertical tower).

So... what have other players in my position done, and how did it work out for you?

(note: realized my original title has nothing to do with the content now, as early on in my thought process I was thinking get the NeoX212T until I realized it was 4 ohm only. which is a shame. Were I to name the thread now, I would title it "MY MB CMD102P ain't cutting it - what to do?")

Can you disconnect the internal speakers from the head on you MB combo? If so and you really want the GB neo 212 cab get it. Run the GB 212 off the amp in your combo. When you get a new amp, keep the combo for practice or back-up. Or sell/trade the combo for a head.

I'd get the MB 102HF for sure . It will fix your not keeping up problem and keep your sound consistant . Those LMII/III heads are bad*** with enough speakers .
