Running my amp through the stage monitor

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, i'm really really bad at things to do with amps..
I recently got a Peavy Stage Monitor
http://www.zzounds.com/item--PEVPV12M
I got it free, it works fine..
I want to run it to my bass amp when my band practices..
I have a crate 50 watt and there's only one line out plug in the back and the P.A. has two open slot plug things.. Do I get a Y cable? a DI box? Those are both answers i've heard but i'm clueless.........
I want to use the monitor at its highest peak.......

you use only one of the jacks to plug into the monitor. the other jack is for hooking up a second monitor and running both off one amp. and yep, it'll work, but it doesn't have any deep bass response so don't try to push the issue with it or it'll blow on you. other than that it should probably be fine. good score. you can always use a monitor cab anyway, especially if you sing.

it should be ok, yeah. it just won't have that big warm low end of a bass cab. which is ok...it's only practice.

If there is no external speaker jack, you're out of luck.

Just to be clear, you'd plug your bass into the crate combo, run a cable from the line out of that, to an open input on the PA mixer, and run the monitor off the PA's poweramp. Is this your plan?

If the Crate has no speaker out, you have to run a signal through something else to amplify it then send it to the monitor.

A speaker out will say "Speaker out" or "Ext. Cabinet" or something very similar. If it has a "Line out" or "Slave out" then you can send it to a separate amp, then to the monitor.

A line out will not work to power the monitor.

Jimmy is a great guy, and you should listen to his advice in the future, but he is mistaken in this instance.

+1 if you're not doing what I outlined in my previous post, you can't use the monitor with your Crate combo. Sorry.
