SansAmp RBI Active button vs footswitch

Sign in to disble this ad
So I just received my RBI from UPS today, hooked it up, and the "Active" button doesn't engage the unit.

However, I found if I plug a keyboard sustain pedal into the "Footswitch In" jack and depress the pedal, it activates.

It seems to me like I just got a unit with a bad front-panel switch, but thought I'd ping the experts here on TB to see if there's anything else I should try to remedy the situation, other than a warranty repair or replace.

Any ideas?

You can't "fix" a broken switch, only replace it. if the switch doesn't work, send it back for replacement.

Of this I'm aware. I was just curious if there was some quirk or non-obvious reversible behavior of the unit of which I'm not aware, that could disable the front panel switch, much like the front panel input jack disables the rear panel input jack.

I've already emailed Tech 21, but thought it couldn't hurt to inquire here as well. Thanks for the reply.

We are sorry that your unit isn't functioning properly. I spoke with our engineer and he said it may be a faulty or dirty footswitch jack. You can try spraying some DeoxIT or electronic tuner spray in the jack to clean the contacts. DO NOT use 10W40. If that doesn't work the unit will need to be repaired. It would just be best to return it to the dealer and have them send you a replacement.
