Sansamp RPM

I have an RBI & RPM & ive had them converted professionally via a local Amp tech. The RPM was converted to 240v about a year ago & the RBI about 2 months ago. He didnt change the fuse on the RPM & i didnt ask about it either, thinking he knows best & off i went. Ive been jamming & gigging with the RPM for over a year & its been great.
Then i got the RBI & wanted to do the same so i took it back to the same dude.Everythings fine but this time he changes the fuse & says you should change it to the right value. Well that got me thinking about why he didnt do it last time to the RPM. I go home try the RBI its madness love it.Then i was curious about the fuse value in the RPM so i connected it up in by-pass & i can hear Harmonic Distortion which i never heard before ?? So i take out the Fuse & it says F 0.1 250v. I took it out & went to the store & got F 0.5 AL fuses which Tech21 says to use in Oz.
Changed the Fuse the Distortion is gone.
Id been jamming with this fuse in there for over a year.I told lloyd @ Tech21 & he just couldnt believe theres been no damage yet.Anyway the distortion is gone & back to normal.

that's a new one to me. i can't imagine how running a fuse with a lower amp rating could possibly damage an amp or a preamp.

Hi JohnK, im lost too because in the maunal it cleary says `F 1.0 AL` for U.S & `F 0.5 AL` for places with 240v. Well i told Lloyd that it was a 1.0 AL when it really was a 0.1 AL when i took it to the store the sales person pointed it out thats its a `F 0.1 AL` it was totally the wrong fuse. This is wierd because that fuse is not reccomended for the U.S or Australia. Once i put the right fuse in there the Harmonic Distortion went away.I cant imagine how a fuse with such wrong value got in there in the first place.I bought it brand from Tone Factor in the U.S.When the tech took out the fuse on the RBI it was F 1.0 AL for use in the U.S.
I thought it was a 1.0 AL at first untill i took it to the store to get the right ones but it was 0.1 AL.....HOW & WHY IS THE QUESTION.

that does sound strange. and equally as strange, a fuse is either working or not, and usually won't have an effect on the sound (in your case, distortion) as long as it's not blown. i don't know how much current an RPM requires to operate, but what you're saying is the distortion went away going with a higher amp fuse kinda reminds me of a thread about tb member 'Phantasm's' Summit DT-100 having a bad power cable and causing all kinds of problems.

A fuse is a switch that melts when it gets hot. It is on or off, or so I have been told.
Put the old one back in?

I cant put the old one back in its not the right fuse for Oz.
Tech21 says to use a 0.5 AL fuse. When we took the original fuse out it wasnt even the right fuse for the U.S either so i cant understand what went on with this unit.Like i said i got it from Tonefactor & God only knows what they have done with it.Its supposed to be `brand new` never played. I dont understand any of this.lloyd just wrote back pretty much saying that his pretty sure that the fuse would not have been put in at the factory ?? In his email he wrote there could have been some leakage in By-pass !!
Im Stumped !!
Ive lost a little bit of faith with some of these companys.

Other causes: Low battery in unit or in active bass, bad wall power, bad wall wart, drive turned way up and blend dimed, improper connection, bass preamp too hot, evil spirits, etc., LOL!

Jim please dont freak me out like that. I know a Guitarist that insists that he talks to Satan when he`s jamming in his room saying that they sit next to each other on his bed` so the Evil Spirits i dont want to think about, the rest yeah i can handle any of the other problems.
Just joking , ive tried to eliminate everything one by one & i ended up checking the fuse & guess what it wasnt the right fuse for 110v or 240v ????

Ive been testing the RPM at least twice a day & as i said changing the fuse eliminated the distortion, its hard to understand how or where it came from but i personally think it was the fuse value not being the right one.Being the wrong fuse for the U.S & Downunder ???? Question is how did it get there, Tech21 said no way they did it & ToneFactor said it was brand new never played, i dont believe either of them now.
