Question Schroeder 1212L Flapping!

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone got an idea of what speakers are used in a Schroeder 1212L?
Had it since May 2008 and reported it to the UK sales agent for Schroeder (SHX Music) who sold me it but they have totally ignored me so far. Reported to Mr Schroeder himself but apart from asking me where I bought it and when I have had no satisfaction there either. The Angled speaker is flapping at low frequencies. Looked to see if any wires were touching speaker inside but nothing showing. Just making preliminary enquiries at the moment as I have not had any satisfaction from their customer service, giving them a couple more days then I'll have to go down the DIY route. Pains me as I just bought another 1212L as they are so good. Many thanks in advance to any who can help.

I would ring SHX if they have a number. Its their responsibility to help you out. Jorg normally replies quickly so it seems strange.

Thanks, I have emailed SHX and rang once but not got back to me thats why I emailed Mr Schroeder. He did reply initially to ask when and where I bought the cabinet. I replied to his email and emailed him a further 2 times without reply upto now. I appreciate what you and others have said about good customer service, thats why I'm allowing them another couple of days before I take things further. SHX are rubbish at communication as I found out when initially buying the cab back in 2008 so I'm not holding my breath for them to ring me, I just hope Mr Schroeder comes through and sorts situ out.

Thank you. So I have heard. Emailed him both on your advised email and @schroedercabinets.com address just in case one of them isn't working. We'll see what happens.

FWIW, a friend of mine had a similar problem with a larger lightly-used Schro cab, also bought from SHX.

Both Jorg and SHX went cold, and wouldn't help. it was a problem with the drivers, and my friend had to replace them.

Also, I subsequently had a cosmetic issue with a cab I bought, and I didn't think Jorg was very helpful then either.

It was a shame, because it was the second cab I'd bought from him and he'd been very helpful previously.

I can't help thinking EU-based Schroeder owners get the crappy end of the stick when it comes to customer service.

Good luck getting it sorted.

If I'm not mistaken Jorg's older speakers were Eminence (I don't know the model) and now I think he uses Celestion, if he didn't switch to something else in the mean time.

If you open the cabinet it should reveal the codes of the speakers that are in it. The Eminence ones had a small white sticker on the side of the magnet with the code of the speaker.
The Celestions have big sticker that says Celestion on the rear of the magnet .

You might want to wait a day or two for Jorg, he responds, but he isn't the fastest responder out there

I have the Schroeder 310212 and my 12s are eminence 500 watt each with the heavy mag speakers. I contacted Jorg and man he got right back to me, I thought I had a problem with wiring. But it was the amp I was using at the time. He seem to be a pretty cool guy, it was with in a day are two and he answer all my question. sent me a wiring diagram.

Some of you were indeed correct. Jorg got back to me and sounds like he's up to his neck at the moment. He is at NAMM in USA at the mo, I didnt realise as I am in the UK. I've sent my apologies accordingly and left him with it. He did mention that he hasn't heard from SHX (UK agent) for months and he asked for pics of the cab in question which I've sent already, as he mentioned it sounds like I've been sold a pre-owned cab!!! I knew I'd bought a B-grade as it was discussed but it was said it was just because the finish was poor. Wouldn't have known any different as I hadn't seen one before buying this first one. Now I've got this newer 2nd one I can see the difference in quality. The faulty one has a large removable panel in the back in which the smaller jack/neutrik panel sits in whereas the newer one just has the jack/neutrik panel set into the closed back. The Angled speaker is also different in that it is a few more degrees back, the speakers (silver magnets) seem bulkier/deeper that the new cabs speakers (black magnets) no names on either apart from schroeder stickers and last but not least the tweeter in the older cab is square as opposed to a round titanium one in the new. Anyway, I'll leave it to the man to sort when he has some time. Thanks to all who have taken their time to comment.

Wow, you arent far from me in the UK....small world! Hull is just over the bridge from my hometown.

Good to see Jorg sorting it. I think Schroeder need a new UK importer as SHX seem like hard work when Ive emailed them.

Hope its sorted soon.

Older, Eminence loaded cabs, had a removable back panel and Jorg went through a couple of different tweeters before the current round looking one.
It is probably not a B-stock cabinet, it sounds like you have an older cabinet design.
