Schroeder 1215L speaker buzzing - video content

Sign in to disble this ad
So my quest to resolve the buzzing issue continues. So far I have:
  1. Rotated the angled 12 180 degrees
  2. Checked and tightened every piece of hardware
  3. Removed the horn
  4. Checked all the wiring
  5. push tested both speakers.
Please excuse the poor quality of the video. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Can I assumed you've determined that the problem is not with the bass, like a weak battery or the amp, with dirty send and return sockets or maybe even the cables?

If the screws holding the speakers are too tight, that can create a buzz also. On my 610L I had that, just a tad to the left and the buzz was gone.

Make sure the wires going to the speaker cone (epoxied/glued to the cone) haven't come loose.....had an ampeg cab do this once.

Different basses, different heads, same result

How do you measure the torque to tell the correct level?

Didn't notice anything...will have to check again.

I once had an issue like that, and the problem was where the angled baffle met the side of the box. If I pushed on the outside of the cab where they met, the buzz would go away. A shot of glue in that joint, or a screw from the outside into the angled baffle took care of it (forgot which I ended up doing).

I had a rattle in a Schroeder cab that was tough to diagnose. Excuse my poor terminology, but one of those thick rubber washers that between the grill and the front of the cab was wedged inside the back of the speaker. It was in between the cone and the metal frame on the back of the speaker. It was tough to troubleshoot because the problem would sometimes go away if I moved/bumped the cab and the washer fell into a place where it wasn't touching the cone. Then I'd move it again and the problem would resurface. Frustrating.
