schroeder 410w/ mesa 400+

My Mesa 400+ does not seem to play well with my Carvin 1503/3015LF. It did sound good through an Ampeg 4x10, but I forget the nomenclature of the cab. Thus I'm think a 4 ohm 4x10 might fit the bill, yet they're heavy. I think the Schroeder 410 is the lightest I've seen; anyone know if it will play well with the 400+? Any suggestions for a good cab for the 400+?

I absolutely love my Epifani 210/212 stack paired with it. No experience with the schroeder; but other poster's around here have felt that the 400+ cannot drive a 3015LF quite enough to really open up its potential. Put that cab you have with a SVT4 Pro or a big power amp and the speaker will sound a little different when really driven.

The 400+ is insanely bass heavy if you set the bass eq to "5" -- have you tried starting with the eq fender flat or close (0 bass, 10 mid, 2 treble) and gone from there yet?

I have a hard time imagining being unable to get a good sound out of the 400+ with a 3015Lf loaded cab with a mid

No, didn't try that. I'll give it a shot. What I did notice was how easy it was to get a fantastic (to my ear, at least) tone from the get-go with the Ampeg 4x10. Billhilly66 also had the same lack of goodness with his 15/6 variant using his 400+

Part of the issue with the 1503 might be the lack of damping material inside the cab, yet the 1503 rocks from the get-go with both my Walter Woods Ultra and my mid 80's RB-400 (series 1).

Note that billhilly66's problems were a busted preamp that caused it to be volume shy with everything -- might want to check with him about how he's doing now as I believe he canceled his new cab orders.

My opinion is that the 3015Lf in the 1503 will have a bit of an upper bass bump that will be exaggerated with the bass knob in "unity" which is really a massive bass boost. It's not "flat" when you set the preamp at 5 or so for everything.

It's most likely not a great tone from the getgo; it's you boosting the bass a lot to make up for the Ampeg 4x10's lack of it, if your bass knob is above 2-3.
