Cool Scoff At My Yorkville,Will Ya'?

Sign in to disble this ad
When I wrote about my Yorkie Bassmaster400 awhile back I forgot to mention the 1st time I brought it to a gig with a new band I had never played with. The guitard player [Who,as so often this happens] thought his $*%# didn't stink, came over as I was setting up,walked over & closely eyeballed my amp. He squinted to read the lable & said "Yorkville? Ha-Ha- I thought they only made PA speakers -What"s this thing - I doubt it can put out any thump at all,Ha-Ha" I already didn't like the guy,so I could give a crap less about his opinion & said" Whatever - Proof is in the pudding" He never really said so that nite, but 2 or 3 gigs later said he was blown away by what that little guy put out. If need be,I run a Peavey 1x15 B.W.with it & it kicks. So put that in your smike & pope it!!

I played a Yorkville 400B (predecessor to your BM400) for a good 7 years & owned it for around 10. They're solid for sure and have tons of headroom.

I used a xc410 cab with my Trace head for well over 300 shows. IMHO, the are VERY comparable to the SWR Goliath. I swapped that cab for a 5 string MIM Fender and a 1x15 SWR cab. I wish that I still had the yorkville...I pity the guys that look at your gear and scoff at it, it's about the sound, not the name.

In my younger years I had what I dubbed "The wall of Death!" I played heavy death metal at the time and had two 400B's with matching 15" extension cabs. It was absolutely outrageous!!! We couldn't hear our drummer any more.... Just watched him going nutz on the kit like we were playing in a stadium for 20,000 people but could only hear the bass and guitar.... Kids do the darndest things sometimes.

I later downsized it to just 1 combo and played that for years without any problems. Yorkville makes real tough gear!! They didn't sound as good as the boutique bass amps of the day (Eden, SWR) but the new ones sound much much better. When I show up to a gig and have to use the house system, if it's one of the newer Yorkville Bass amps, I'm happy.

there were a few times i had my amp in the shop and used a rented yorky head. can't say it was my favorite amp ever but it was built well and had a very solid tone. bang/buck ratio is pretty high in their stuff.

Greetings from the North,

I've had my Bassmaster XS800H since 2004. It hasn't skipped a beat and still sounds great. The only mod that I made to it was dropping a JJ 12AX7 into it when I first got it. But I am waiting for the new YBA300 to hit the show room.
