Screen Grid Resistor?

I recently had a pair of old tubes in my amp go. To be on the safe side, is there any way to tell if I took out a screen grid resistor...particularity without popping open the socket? Tubes in both socket both light up and produce output. I'd like to take the amp in for general servicing anyways, but was just curious.

Without removing the chassis to gain access, no.

A gone screen resistor is usually a bit obviously burnt up. Just don't look for that when its turned on, or just been turned on recently. And its really important you don't try to lick anything in there, some look like sweets, but they aren't.

...but I was told that licking the inside components of the amp is what used to give those old SVTs their mojo.

Yes but you had to get a pinup model to do it.
